Community members enjoy hot dogs at the barbecue

Life Care Center of Mount Vernon, Washington, held a barbecue to support law enforcement officers on July 30, 2016.

The barbecue served as a fundraiser to support the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation. About $320 was raised from selling food. Habitat for Humanity agreed to match the funds and send the money to the Dallas Fallen Officers Fund directly. Another local organization, Love Inc., said they would donate $150. The grand total amount donated to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation was about $790.

Approximately 100 local law enforcement, Life Care associates, residents and their families and other community members showed up throughout the day. Hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon, chips and soda were served.

“We wanted to show appreciation and support to our local law enforcement for their bravery and hard work in keeping our community safe,” said Maria Carter, medical records director.
